Dallah Al-Khobar Hospital has added a new milestone to its record of medical achievements, receiving a 72-year-old patient who had been suffering from chronic urinary retention and deteriorating kidney function due to severe prostate enlargement, which had forced him to rely on continuous catheterization and frequent emergency visits.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Under the leadership of Dr. Abdullah Mousa Al-Zahrani, Consultant Urologist and Laser & Reconstructive Surgeon, the hospital performed its first HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) procedure, one of the most advanced and precise techniques for prostate enlargement surgery worldwide.
The procedure was carried out endoscopically without any external surgical incision, preserving the integrity of the urinary sphincter and bladder. Spinal anesthesia was used, taking into account the patient’s health condition and compromised kidney function.
The surgery was a complete success, with excellent results: the catheter was removed in less than 24 hours, allowing the patient to urinate naturally for the first time in months, along with a marked improvement in kidney function.
